Supreme Court Justice Denies Further Review in "Patzerit" Case

Supreme Court Justice Dafna Barak-Erez has rejected requests for an additional hearing in the "Patzerit" case, upholding a previous ruling. The decision came after she declined to recuse herself from the case despite serious allegations of a conflict of interest. The case will now proceed to State Attorney Amit Issar.

Barak-Erez's ruling means the previous decision by Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit and Justice Khaled Kabub, which was made against the dissenting opinion of Justice Noam Solberg, remains in effect. The decision to deny a further hearing was made after President Amit bypassed Justice Solberg and Barak-Erez herself refused to step aside due to conflict of interest claims.

With this decision, the responsibility now falls to State Attorney Amit Issar to determine if the Attorney General had any involvement in the "Patzerit" affair. Issar will also decide the fate of the "Patzerit" unit and other senior officials linked to the leak and allegations of a cover-up in the investigation.

Barak-Erez's past professional experience in the Military Advocate General's Corps, where she served for many years and reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in reserve duty, is noted as background. She recently spoke in an interview about the unit's significant impact on her professional path. Despite the serious claims and demands for a renewed examination, the Supreme Court has closed the door on further discussion, shifting the sensitive decision to the State Attorney.
