Israeli Supreme Court Justice Temporarily Freezes Transfer of Case to State Attorney Amid Review Request

Supreme Court Justice Daphne Barak-Erez has temporarily halted the transfer of the investigation in the "Petzar" case to State Attorney Amit Isman. This interim freeze follows a petition for a rehearing submitted by the original petitioners, including Knesset member Avichai Boaron, the organization "We Chose Life," and the Lavi Association. The decision to pause the transfer was made "as a precaution only," with Barak-Erez emphasizing that it does not indicate any position on the merits of the petition or the arguments presented.

About two weeks ago, the Supreme Court ruled that the case could be transferred to Isman, noting that he has no connection to the case. However, the petitioners requested an additional hearing on that ruling, prompting Barak-Erez to review the matter. Until a further decision is made, the current status quo remains, and the case will not be handed over to the State Attorney.

Barak-Erez clarified that this temporary injunction is procedural and does not reflect her stance on the final outcome. The court has yet to decide whether to hold another hearing or how the case will proceed after the review is complete.
