Israeli High Court Temporarily Halts Transfer of Military Police Investigation to Prosecution
On Friday, Justice Daphne Barak-Erez issued a temporary injunction freezing the transfer of the investigation into Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, the Military Police Investigations Unit (MPIU) chief, to the Israeli prosecution. The freeze will remain in place until the High Court of Justice decides whether to hold an additional hearing, as requested by the petitioners. In her ruling, Justice Barak-Erez noted that the request for a further hearing was received the previous evening and, as a precaution without taking a position, she ordered a temporary suspension of the implementation of the contested ruling. This suspension maintains the current status quo regarding the handling of the investigation by the State Attorney's Office until a further decision is made.
