Centrist and Arab-Jewish Parties Opt Out of Upcoming Knesset Elections

Two centrist political movements, 'The Fourth Quarter' and 'To the Flag,' which had supported a unity government, announced on Tuesday that they will not compete in the upcoming Knesset elections. The Arab-Jewish party 'A Place for Us All,' affiliated with the 'Standing Together' movement, also declared it would not submit a list.

'A Place for Us All,' led by Alon-Lee Green and Rula Daoud, prominent figures in 'Standing Together,' stated their decision was made out of a sense of responsibility and to avoid 'burning votes.' The party intends to redirect its energy into a campaign encouraging voting for the Knesset with the goal of ousting the "far-right government." They affirmed their commitment to building a joint Arab-Jewish political home focused on peace, equality, and social justice, which will operate both on the ground and eventually in the Knesset.

'The Fourth Quarter,' a social movement founded in 2022, explained that while they had aimed to establish a "bloc-breaking Zionist political force" capable of broad consensus, the conditions for such an endeavor were not yet ripe. The movement indicated it is preparing for future elections and continuing to build the foundation for its political initiative.

'To the Flag' described its decision as difficult yet clear, emphasizing that their objective is impact rather than solely Knesset representation. The movement considered running independently, exploring alliances with new forces, and even received offers from established political players that could have secured Knesset seats. However, they ultimately declined, stating, "Not now." They observed that the Israeli public, at least currently, has reverted to traditional political blocs, rallying behind either "Only Bibi" or "Only Not Bibi." 'To the Flag' expressed hope that the post-October 7th reality would disrupt these old political paradigms, but acknowledged this has not yet occurred. They aim to build a force that profoundly alters Israel's political map, a goal they have not yet reached.

One of 'To the Flag's' leaders, Yitzhak Glick, pledged that the movement would continue to develop a worthy leadership alternative for the nation, without making concessions, and would prepare for the next elections.
