IDF Rejects UN Rapporteur's Gaza Claims as 'Distorted'

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have strongly refuted accusations made by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese regarding Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip. The IDF stated that Albanese's claims present a "distorted" view of the situation, failing to acknowledge the necessary security context.

In a statement responding to journalist inquiries, the Israeli military emphasized that Albanese "acts and speaks solely in her own name." The IDF asserted that its operations in Gaza are conducted exclusively for security purposes, in compliance with international law and political directives. Forces are deployed along the Yellow Line, acting on operational assessments to protect Israeli civilians and soldiers, while continuing to neutralize threats and destroy terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground.

The IDF further criticized Albanese for presenting the scale of destruction in Gaza in a "distorted and uncontextualized" manner. The military argued that her statement overlooks the "systematic and massive" use of civilian infrastructure by terrorist organizations and their operations within densely populated areas. The IDF also pointed out that Albanese's report does not differentiate between damage caused by Israeli operations and that caused by terrorist groups.

Regarding accusations of rubble removal and displacement, the IDF questioned Albanese's sources and verification methods for her presented "reliable information." The military also took issue with Albanese's use of the term "so-called ceasefire," arguing it ignores ongoing terrorist activities, rearmament, planned attacks against Israel, and Hamas's refusal to disarm, all of which the IDF considers violations of the ceasefire agreement.

The IDF affirmed its commitment to the ceasefire, stating that the nature of its operations has significantly changed. They now conduct targeted actions solely to eliminate threats and protect Israeli civilians and their own forces.
