Israeli UN Ambassador Challenges UN Security Council on Hamas Narratives
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, turned a Security Council session into a quiz by presenting a series of images and asking members to distinguish between "terrorists or journalists" and "UNRWA workers or Hamas commanders." Danon highlighted cases where the UN and international organizations have adopted Hamas's narrative, portraying militants as journalists or UNRWA employees. He also criticized New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani for echoing Hamas propaganda by labeling a Hamas military wing operative killed by Israel as a journalist.
In his speech, Danon condemned the UN Secretary-General's report on the implementation of Resolution 2334, accusing it of relying on Hamas propaganda rather than facts. He criticized the automatic condemnation of Israel while ignoring terrorist groups that destabilize the region. Danon stated, "Hamas spreads lies. The UN repeats them. The world condemns Israel. Then the truth emerges with no apology, correction, or retraction. It is time to stop echoing terrorist propaganda and start pressuring Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran."
