World Zionist Organization Official: Israel is a Safe Haven for Jews Worldwide
Bella Lvovich, head of the World Zionist Organization's Department for Promoting Aliyah, stated that Israel remains a reliable home for all Jews globally during the international online summit "Global Aliyah Live Summit" on September 8. The summit, broadcast in Russian, English, and French by YnetGlobal, focused on aliyah, the immigration of Jews to Israel.
Lvovich highlighted the historical significance of the World Zionist Organization, founded by Theodor Herzl, which has connected Israel with Jewish communities worldwide since 1897. She explained that the organization has been instrumental in establishing key Israeli institutions like the Jewish Agency (Sohnut) and Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael, with its current primary mission being to strengthen ties with the diaspora and encourage aliyah.
She detailed the practical support provided to potential immigrants in their home countries through WZO representatives, local Jewish communities, and the "Ofek" organization. Lvovich emphasized the importance of overcoming psychological and practical barriers to successful immigration, noting the WZO's extensive network of Ulpanim (Hebrew language schools) worldwide as a key initiative to help individuals learn Hebrew before making the move.
Lvovich pointed to the events of October 7 and the subsequent rise in antisemitism as a critical turning point, stating that Herzl's dream of antisemitism disappearing with the establishment of Israel has not yet materialized. She observed that the increased threats have shattered illusions of safety for many Jews in other countries, underscoring their deep connection to the Jewish people and leading to a significant increase in those considering aliyah.

The summit itself was supported by various Israeli governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, the Jewish Agency, Keren Hayesod, and others.
