Jewish Aliyah Interest Surges Globally Post-October 7

Following the October 7th attacks and a subsequent rise in global antisemitism, there has been a significant increase in interest among Jews worldwide to immigrate to Israel, according to the Jewish Agency (Sohnut). Doron Almog, Chairman of the Jewish Agency, stated at the Global Aliyah Live Summit that communities in France, the UK, the US, South Africa, and Australia are showing the most activity. Almog noted that many Jews are now considering Israel as their future home, driven not only by a desire to escape antisemitism but also by a strengthened sense of Jewish identity.

In response to the surge in inquiries, the Sohnut center in Jerusalem has expanded its operations to 24/7 and now offers services in five languages. The agency is experiencing a notable increase in requests for information regarding employment and the cost of living in Israel. Almog highlighted that Israeli society's solidarity in the face of threats has inspired diaspora Jews to become part of the nation.

The Jewish Agency is also focusing on a new model of immigration for entire communities and groups, which facilitates pre-arranged housing and employment. Almog emphasized that attracting new immigrants is crucial for the recovery of Israel's southern and northern regions and has historically been a primary driver of the country's growth.
