Arab Political List Faces Elections United After Internal Strife

Faten Ghattas, who replaced Jafar Farah in the second position on the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality's list, stated that the party has overcome a significant internal crisis and is now united ahead of the upcoming elections. Speaking from the Knesset to Al-Hala channel and Panet website, Ghattas emphasized the list's readiness, saying, "Today the Joint List launches with its full components, and behind it is its broad people, whom we hope to be worthy of." He stressed that participation in elections is both a right and a duty.

Ghattas outlined the list's agenda, prioritizing the full rights of Arab citizens, including language, citizenship, and security. He also expressed solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, condemning the ongoing conflict. "We are the original people of this country and have a right in this country," he asserted.

He raised concerns about the social, economic, and security situation within the Arab community, warning of escalating crises. "What is happening in the streets is very worrying, amid the daily dangers and economic and social pressures citizens are experiencing," Ghattas stated, adding that criminal gangs thrive on these pressures. He questioned the status of pensions, highlighting the precarious financial situation of many.

Addressing the recent internal turmoil within the Democratic Front, Ghattas described it as a difficult test that the party faced with strength and transparency. "We emerged from yesterday's meeting united with one opinion and complete understanding to move forward with work and engage the public," he concluded. The party's internal adjustments, including Ghattas's placement, were finalized before the deadline for submitting electoral lists to the Central Elections Committee.
