New Israeli Comedy Series 'People I Met' Premieres on Kan 11

Kan 11, Israel's public broadcaster, is set to launch a new comedy series titled "People I Met," premiering on September 21st, the evening of Yom Kippur. The show is based on Matan Hilel's bestselling book, "People I Met in My Imagination," and brings the world of Beersheba and its local characters to the screen. The series centers on "Simi Center," a neighborhood commercial center in Beersheba, and the diverse array of business owners, employees, customers, and local personalities who frequent it. Through their interactions, the series aims to create a comedy rooted in Israeli daily life, focusing on characters from the city's perceived margins who become the heart of the story.

The series was created by Matan Hilel, Aviram Buchris, Omri Amitai, and Adar Miron, with Yonatan Gurfinkel directing and Guri Alfi serving as editor. Mai TV Communications is producing the show. The ensemble cast features prominent Israeli actors including Asi Cohen, Tal Friedman, and Dana Ivgy, alongside Yaniv Biton, Arnon Zadok, Lidor Admoni, Shlomi Avraham, Sean Softy, Susanna Papyan, Omer Kuli, Shiran Itzhaki, Eden Havroni, and Yosef Russo.

A premiere screening was held at the Anav Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, attended by the series' creators, cast members, and various entertainment industry figures, including Muli Shagav, Tamira Yardeni, Shlomi Shaban, Liat Har Lev, Eran Zarchowitz, Rina Matzliach, Sharon Taycher, Maor Melikson, and Oren Yosipovich.
