Opposition Leaders Urged to Declare Netanyahu Illegitimate
Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, has called on opposition leaders to issue a joint statement declaring Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu illegitimate and unfit to form a government. Golan stated, "We must all stand together in a joint declaration to the citizens of Israel and say in a clear voice: Netanyahu is illegitimate, it is forbidden to sit with him, and it is forbidden to let him form a government. This man is dangerous to Israel's security."
Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the National Unity Party, has reportedly agreed to the initiative and is awaiting responses from Naftali Bennett, chairman of the Together party, and Avigdor Lieberman, chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu.
This initiative comes in the wake of a report in the Haaretz newspaper alleging that the Prime Minister received explicit warnings days before the October 7th attacks but did not update the IDF and Shin Bet. The report has intensified political pressure on Netanyahu's government.
