Arizona Music Festival Drops Jane Remover After Ultimatum Over Israeli Band

The M3F Fest in Phoenix, Arizona, has removed American artist Jane Remover from its lineup for the March 5-6, 2027 event, replacing her with Flying Lotus. The festival has not officially commented on the reason for Remover's removal, but the decision follows her public ultimatum approximately one month prior. Remover had demanded that the Israeli band Temper City be removed from the festival's lineup, stating she would not perform otherwise.

Remover, who has gained popularity among young audiences in the United States, apparently attempted to pressure the festival organizers to choose between her and the Israeli group. She posted a sharp message on Instagram Stories stating, "Take this IDF band off the lineup or I won't perform." However, the festival opted to keep Temper City, making their choice clear.

Temper City, an alt-rock band from Los Angeles, has experienced an unexpected Israeli success story in America this year. Their debut song, "Self Aware," became a viral hit on TikTok, propelling the band to the number one spot on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart last July. This significant achievement occurred when the band had only released two songs in total, a rare occurrence in the American music industry.

The M3F Fest situation adds to a growing trend of cultural events choosing to resist pressure to boycott Israeli artists. In recent months, several similar instances have occurred where cultural bodies have refused to yield to demands for boycotts. For example, the European Broadcasting Union modified rules for the Eurovision competition but ultimately did not prevent Israel's participation.

As of now, neither Temper City nor Jane Remover have officially responded to the situation. The festival continues its preparations for the March event, with the Israeli band remaining part of an impressive lineup featuring dozens of international artists.
