Iran Unveils New Doctrine: Preemptive Strikes Against Any Threat

Iran has signaled a significant strategic shift, announcing a new ballistic missile with enhanced capabilities and declaring Tehran will "take preemptive action against any threat before it is carried out." This announcement, broadcast on state television, was attributed to Iran's Supreme National Security Council head, Mohsen Rezai. He stated the missile was "tested" against a U.S. warship, though it remains unclear if it was the Qassem Basir missile.

The declaration follows a U.S. report from Saturday detailing ballistic missile launches toward American warships. In response, three Iranian oil tankers were reportedly attacked, an event experts described as a dangerous escalation. Prior to this, Iran had primarily targeted commercial vessels.

The official Iranian report described the missile, featuring increased range and precision and a half-ton warhead, as a turning point in the nation's defense strategy. Concerns over Iran's missile program have been a primary factor cited by the U.S. and Israel for their actions against Iran earlier this year, which ignited the current conflict.
