Commentator Yakov Bardugo said in a Wednesday evening interview on Radio Galey Israel that he is not working for anyone, including Shin Bet chief David Zini, and therefore can criticize him openly. He said people had been asking him all morning why he was speaking out against Zini.
Bardugo said his criticism is tied to Zini’s handling of what he described as the leak that, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was the most dangerous in Israel’s history. He argued that Zini should be investigating that leak and said it was wrong not to do so.
He also said there is no reason to fear criticism, even when it concerns an appointment made by Netanyahu. Bardugo questioned Zini’s response that there is “no lead,” asking, “Is that a Shin Bet answer?”
