Ireland's Streets Turn Hostile to Jews and Israelis, Report Finds

A new report highlights a significant rise in antisemitism and hostility towards anything related to Israel and Judaism in Ireland, transforming the nation into a hotbed of hatred. The investigation, part of a documentary series on global antisemitism, documented curses and violence on the streets directed at Israelis and Jews.

Despite Ireland's reputation for music festivals and a generally welcoming atmosphere, the country has experienced a dramatic increase in anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiment. Diplomatic relations between Ireland and Israel have reached an all-time low, leading to the closure of the Israeli embassy in Dublin. However, the most severe issues are now manifesting on the streets.

A report by the local Jewish community, numbering approximately 4,000 individuals, revealed a startling 147 antisemitic incidents in the past year, meaning one in every 27 Jews experienced an incident. Roughly 70% of these cases were classified as pure antisemitism, including physical assaults, verbal abuse, vandalism, and threats, independent of Israeli policy.

This animosity extends beyond street-level incidents, permeating academia, media, and cultural spheres. Attempts to cover traditional music festivals were met with official refusals and accusations of media cover-ups. Israelis have also been denied entry to various events solely due to their service in the Israel Defense Forces.

The roots of this animosity are deeply embedded in a flawed historical narrative that draws parallels between British occupation in Ireland and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, coupled with widespread political radicalization. Even voices of Israelis residing in Ireland or their few supporters attempting to offer alternative perspectives are quickly silenced.

Consequently, Ireland is no longer merely a political critic of Israel; it has become a place where Jewish or Israeli identity poses a daily risk.
