Four Injured in Haifa Apartment Fire, One in Moderate Condition

Four people were injured overnight in a fire that broke out in a residential apartment on Haruv Street in Tirat Carmel. Firefighters from the Haifa station of the Israel Fire and Rescue Services were dispatched to the scene following reports of the blaze and worked to control the fire and search the building. Upon arrival, the first firefighting team observed thick smoke emanating from the first floor of the residential building. Fearing residents might be trapped inside, firefighters quickly entered the structure to conduct searches. Simultaneously, teams worked to locate and extinguish the fire's source. It was determined that the fire had ignited a mattress inside a reinforced safe room (Mamad) within the apartment. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and worked to limit the spread of smoke and fire to other parts of the home. According to the incident commander, Chief Fire Officer Shi Ben Simon, a large amount of smoke was visible from the apartment upon the forces' arrival, prompting immediate action for both search and firefighting. The Fire and Rescue Services reported that the four occupants managed to exit the apartment on their own before firefighters arrived. Three sustained minor injuries, while one person was in moderate condition. A fire investigator from the Israel Fire and Rescue Services is expected to arrive at the scene later today to examine the site and determine the cause and circumstances of the fire.
