Naftali Bennett announced on Wednesday, alongside his election campaign, that he is forming an advisory committee on artificial intelligence. The panel will bring together experts from academia, industry, the security establishment and the public sector to help shape long-term national policy.
According to Bennett, the committee will prepare policy recommendations for the government on innovation, education and regulation. Its goal is to strengthen Israel’s position in AI and promote the use of artificial intelligence technologies for the benefit of the public and the wider Israeli economy.
The committee will also examine the opportunities and challenges created by the AI revolution for Israel’s economy, society and security. Bennett said it will work to reinforce Israel’s relative advantage in a field he said is not being fully realized today.
In a statement issued by Bennett’s team, he said, “This is a move that will boost the technological superiority of the State of Israel and position it as a leader in artificial intelligence in the region and in the world.” The announced members include Stanford computer science professor emeritus Yoav Shoham, Lemonade co-founder and CEO Daniel Schreiber, Tel Aviv University professor Meir Feder, NFX co-founder Gigi Levy-Weiss, OG Venture Partners partner Ziv Kopf, Enso founder and CEO Micky Haslavsky, Nexar founder and chairman Eran Shir, Lendbuzz co-founder Dan Raviv, former Payoneer president and senior executive Keren Levi, Qubit IL CEO Tami Mazal Shahar, and Dr. Lital Helman, a senior lecturer at the Ono Academic College and an expert in intellectual property, law, technology and AI regulation.
