Former prime minister and Yesh Atid? no, Together Party chairman Naftali Bennett announced on Wednesday the creation of a new advisory committee on artificial intelligence to shape Israel’s long-term national policy. The panel brings together experts from academia, industry, the security establishment and the public sector.
According to Bennett’s statement, the committee will prepare policy recommendations for the government on innovation, education and regulation. It is meant to help strengthen Israel’s position in AI and guide the state through rapid technological changes.
The group will also examine the opportunities and challenges that the AI revolution poses for Israel’s economy, society and security system. Bennett said the goal is to promote advanced technologies for the public and the economy, and to build a national strategy that preserves Israel’s relative advantage in the field.
Among the committee members are Prof. Yoav Shoham, Daniel Schreiber, Prof. Meir Feder, Gigi Levy-Weiss, Ziv Kop, Mickey Haslavsky, Eran Shir, Prof. Dan Raviv, Keren Levy, Tami Mazal Shahar and Dr. Lital Helman. The announcement did not give a timetable for the panel’s first recommendations.
