Bani Begin Slams Netanyahu Over October 7 Failures

Bani Begin, son of the Likud party's founder and former Prime Minister Menachem Begin, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Begin, who left the Likud party five years ago, posted his remarks in response to Netanyahu's claim that security officials did not alert him on the night before the October 7th Hamas attack. Begin questioned Netanyahu's statement, writing, "You were paralyzed and you also lied?!"

Begin further addressed responsibility for the security failure, stating that the IDF and Shin Bet are subordinate to the government. He asserted that all government members bear responsibility for the "terrible failure," with special responsibility falling on the National Security Cabinet and ultimate responsibility on Prime Minister Netanyahu. "What is not clear here?" he asked.

Concluding his post, Begin reflected on his long political career, which began 65 years ago when he first voted for the Herut movement (the precursor to Likud). He stated that in his many years, he had never witnessed such "ugliness" and "misery" injected into public life by the government and in the country's leadership. Begin urged citizens to draw their conclusions on election day, Tuesday, October 27th, calling for a large turnout.
