Bennett Slams Netanyahu Over Hamas Policy and Oct. 7 Blame Game

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his inner circle, denouncing their narrative surrounding the October 7th Hamas attacks. The controversy was ignited by an interview given by Sara Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's wife, on Channel 14, which Bennett claims is spreading a "sick, false, and dangerous conspiracy" against security officials and public figures, including former IDF General Yair Golan.

Bennett praised figures like Yair Golan, who he said "risked his life to save lives" on October 7th, and credited "good people from all over the country" with preventing an even greater disaster. He directly accused Netanyahu, his wife, and their associates of fabricating a conspiracy against IDF and Shin Bet commanders and Golan.

In his statement on X, formerly Twitter, Bennett asserted that the "simple truth" is that Netanyahu "fed the Hamas monster" for years. He detailed a history of policies he claims empowered Hamas, including approving billions of dollars in Qatari funds, tolerating rocket fire and balloons, and capitulating to Hamas threats, thereby eroding Israel's deterrence.

Bennett identified the "shameful capitulation" on Jerusalem Day in 2021, when the flag march was canceled due to Hamas threats, as a turning point. He stated that Hamas launched rockets at Jerusalem minutes after this capitulation, leading Hamas leader Sinwar to plan the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation. Bennett concluded that Netanyahu's failure stemmed from a "conception that Hamas is an asset and Qatar is a partner."

Concluding his remarks, Bennett vowed that Netanyahu's attempts to rewrite history would fail. He promised that a state commission of inquiry would be established to investigate all aspects of the events and reveal the truth, holding Netanyahu "directly responsible for 13 years of building the terror monsters Hamas and Hezbollah and for the October 7th massacre."
