Red Cross to Resume Prisoner Visits; Ben-Gvir Slams Supreme Court
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is set to resume visits to security prisoners in Israeli jails for the first time since October 7. According to Channel 12 News, these visits are expected to recommence as early as Wednesday.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir strongly criticized the decision and the High Court of Justice's directive to allow these visits. "The High Court's directive to allow visits to Hamas terrorists for the first time since October 7 constitutes a direct blow to Israel's security deterrence," he stated.
Ben-Gvir linked the conditions of security prisoners to a decrease in terror attacks, asserting, "The security reality is clear: a decrease of about 75% in attacks, according to the Shin Bet, is due in part to the reform in the conditions of terrorists in prison." He further intensified his criticism of the Supreme Court, saying, "Unfortunately, the High Court consistently serves as an address for the enemy's appeals."
