Red Cross Facilitates Transfer of Five Detainees from Israel to Lebanon
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Tuesday that it facilitated the transfer of five detainees held by Israel to Lebanon. The operation, conducted in the capacity of a neutral intermediary, involved one detainee transferred on Monday and four on Tuesday. The ICRC stated the transfers were for humanitarian reasons, ensuring the dignity of all involved.
In a related development, the ICRC reiterated that its representatives have been denied access to detainees in Israeli custody, including Lebanese citizens, since October 2023. The organization emphasized the urgent need to receive information about conflict-related detainees and to be granted access to them.
The ICRC is continuing confidential dialogue with Israeli authorities to immediately resume detainee visits and provide answers to families in Lebanon awaiting news about their relatives.
