Red Cross Confirms Transfer of 5 Lebanese Detainees from Israel

An ICRC spokesperson stated, "One person was transferred yesterday to Lebanon, and four more today, while ensuring the safety and dignity of those involved." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced the decision to release the five Lebanese detainees on Thursday. He explained that the release was a goodwill gesture tied to progress in locating the remains of historical Lebanese Jewish leadership. Netanyahu further clarified that the detainees were not members of a terrorist organization and were apprehended in areas controlled by the IDF in southern Lebanon.
