Beer Sheva Prepares for Annual Light Run Festival
Beer Sheva is gearing up to host its annual LIGHT RUN 2026 night race on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. This year's event, themed 'Saluting the Runners,' is organized by the Beer Sheva Municipality and 'Kivunim' company. The festival will feature various running races alongside a large, free family-friendly event in the Beer Sheva River Park. Attractions include a ninja course, face painting, fitness sessions, and dance workshops led by Lihi Freud and Dan Odiz's Collage. The main stage will host children's entertainer Kevin Rubin, a mentalist show, and a military band. Later in the evening, the band 'Rockville' will perform, followed by a DJ set from DJ Skazi. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony for race winners, attended by Mayor Rubik Daniilovich and Lt. Col. Dr. Akiva Grossman, head of fitness in the reserves.
To ensure participant safety, significant traffic disruptions are expected throughout the city. Road closures will be in effect from early morning until midnight, affecting major arteries including Naftali Hertz Imber Boulevard, Hativat Shmoneh Street, and David Tuviahu Boulevard. Drivers are advised to use the Waze app for real-time updates. Parking will be restricted along the race route from 5 PM. Access to the Old City and the 'Mall 7' shopping center will remain open, with specific route recommendations provided. Public transportation routes may also be altered, and passengers are advised to check with transport companies for updates.
