The High Court of Justice issued an order nisi in petitions challenging the appointment of Yehuda Eliyahu as director general of the Israel Land Authority. The court instructed the state to explain why the appointment should be considered valid.
A hearing at which the state will present its response was set for July 1, in 10 days. The petitions are aimed at the legality of Eliyahu’s appointment, and the court’s order means the state must now defend the decision before the justices.
