Israel’s High Court of Justice issued a show-cause order on Wednesday requiring the state and other respondents to explain within seven days why the appointment of the director of the Israel Land Authority should not be annulled. The order challenges the April 23, 2026 recommendation of the appointments committee and casts doubt on the legality and propriety of the selection process.
The decision was issued by justices Yael Willner, Ofer Grosskopf, and Khaled Kabub. The court said the case is especially urgent and gave the respondents an unusually short deadline to file an affidavit in response.
A decisive hearing was scheduled for July 1, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. The ruling leaves the appointment, one of the most senior and sensitive in Israel’s public sector, under judicial scrutiny until the court hears the arguments.
