Maccabi Tel Aviv's new professional director, Steven Nienhuis, has been actively shaping the team's roster since his appointment in early June. Nienhuis, who previously served as sporting director for Hungarian champions Győr, has prioritized signing Israeli players familiar with the club. Kanikovsky played against Nienhuis's former team, Ferencváros, while Nienhuis was Győr's sporting director.
