IDF Eliminates Hamas Nahba Unit Commander in Gaza City Strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that it had eliminated Yusef Akila, a Hamas Nahba unit commander, in an airstrike in Gaza City on Monday. The IDF stated that Akila had recently been advancing terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians, and was working to restore the organization's capabilities while systematically violating the ceasefire.
The military confirmed that Akila was targeted to neutralize the threat he posed. Prior to the strike, the IDF reported that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
The Nahba unit is a special forces unit within Hamas's military wing, responsible for complex operations. Akila's elimination is seen as a significant blow to Hamas's operational capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
