Political Operative Urges Right-Wing Candidate to Withdraw for Israel's Sake

Beraleh Krumby, a political operative, has penned an open letter to Lali Deri, a candidate on Ofer Winter's list, urging her to withdraw from the upcoming election or merge with another party. Krumby argues that Deri's current political venture risks bringing a left-wing government to power, which he believes would endanger Israel. He emphasizes that personal ambition should not supersede the national interest, especially during critical times.

Krumby recounts his long-standing support for Deri's political aspirations, dating back to 2019 when she ran under the Jewish Home party and later in the Likud primaries. He details his efforts to encourage her and expresses disappointment over her failed attempts to secure positions within the Likud party, including a role in a ministry that was subsequently closed. He was pleased when her name emerged as an option for right-wing parties, believing those passionate about politics should pursue their goals.

However, Krumby now views Deri's current campaign as a "run into the abyss," warning that her party's independent run jeopardizes the possibility of a right-wing government and the future of Israel. He points out that no polls suggest her party is safely above the electoral threshold, increasing the risk of splitting the right-wing vote and inadvertently paving the way for a left-wing victory.

He questions the core platform of Deri's party, which reportedly includes cooperation between Jews and Arabs and the enlistment of Haredi men into the army, asking if this is truly the most significant message for Israel post-war. Krumby implores Deri and her colleagues to demonstrate responsibility by either uniting with other right-wing factions or withdrawing their candidacy, stating that history will judge their decision.
