Ran Danker Honored as Actor of the Year for 'Cabaret' Role
Israeli actor Ran Danker was named Actor of the Year at the annual awards ceremony for outstanding actors and creators. He received the honor for his role in the musical "Cabaret" at the Cameri Theater. Upon accepting the award, Danker thanked the theater's management and the selection committee.
He humorously recounted a minor mishap on his way to the event, where he fell off his bicycle. "I thought to myself, 'Great, that's a good start. I've gone through the drama, now I can be lighthearted,'" he said.
Danker expressed his deep emotion about the role, calling it a significant milestone and "a gift for life." He credited the musical's director, Gilad Kimchi, for encouraging him to explore his capabilities further, stating, "Every evening on stage I discover that I can do more and that there is still room to grow, and that's great fun."
He dedicated his award to his fellow actors, calling them "the bravest people I know." Danker described actors as "soul warriors" who choose to expose themselves on stage nightly, regardless of their personal feelings, driven by love, giving, and creativity. He concluded by thanking his co-star in "Cabaret," Adenafo Kasa, praising him as an exceptional partner whose presence allows Danker to "forget the text and dive into an endless world."
