Northern Israel Council Head Davydovitch Joins Benny Gantz's National Unity Party

Moshe Davydovitch, head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council and chairman of the Confrontation Line Forum, announced Monday his decision to join Benny Gantz's National Unity Party. Davydovitch will be placed in the 40th position on the party's list for the 26th Knesset.

Gantz stated that he views Davydovitch as the most suitable candidate for the crucial national task of rehabilitating and developing the north and south of Israel. He expressed his intention for Davydovitch to serve as the Minister for the Rehabilitation and Development of the North and South in a future National Unity government.

Davydovitch, who has led the Mateh Asher Council since 2018 and the Confrontation Line Forum, which represents local authorities along the northern border, has been a prominent advocate for residents affected by the ongoing conflict. Since the October 7th attacks and the subsequent war, he has been at the forefront of efforts by northern local leaders to secure residents, address the needs of evacuees, and promote rebuilding and security for communities along the border.

Davydovitch explained his move, stating he aims to bring the practical experience and voices from the field to the national decision-making table. His goal is to foster security, growth, and prosperity in the north and south, emphasizing the need to not only rebuild but to revitalize these regions and restore security. He indicated that plans for the north and south include increased government investment in growth-driving infrastructure and prioritizing these areas on the national agenda.

Gantz praised Davydovitch's leadership during the "most difficult years," highlighting his responsibility during critical moments, his support for residents and communities, and his personal example of determination and execution.
