Northern Border Council Head Offered Spot on Gadi Eisenkot's Knesset List

Moshe Davidovitch, chairman of the "Confrontation Line" Forum and head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, is in advanced negotiations to join Gadi Eisenkot's political list ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections. Davidovitch has reportedly been offered a position on Eisenkot's list, with other integration options also being considered.

The two have maintained contact for several years, with their relationship intensifying since the outbreak of the war. Eisenkot has frequently visited communities along the northern border and met with local leaders. Together, they developed a plan for the rehabilitation of the north in cooperation with the regional councils.

Recent days have seen intensified discussions between Davidovitch and Eisenkot. On the day prior to the report, Davidovitch publicly endorsed Eisenkot at a conference, stating, "Gadi, you are on the right path. We are with you, I am with you." He added that "the people of Israel demand repair, unity, and connection," praising Eisenkot as someone "capable, able, and successful."

Earlier on the day of the report, Eisenkot met with regional council heads, accompanied by fellow party member Osherat Gonen, head of the South Sharon Regional Council. Eisenkot emphasized the importance of local governance, advocating for the decentralization of government authority to regional and municipal bodies. He called for reduced bureaucracy and greater trust in local leaders, proposing the transfer of powers in education, infrastructure, agriculture, attracting young people, and regional development, asserting that strengthening local government is crucial for strengthening the entire country.
