Northern Border Council Head in Talks with Gadi Eisenkot for Knesset List

Moshe Davidovitch, head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council and chairman of the "Confrontation Line Forum" representing communities near the Lebanese border, is currently in negotiations with Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yisrael party. These discussions are taking place as parties finalize their Knesset candidate lists ahead of the upcoming elections.

Davidovitch has emerged as a prominent voice for northern local authorities during the ongoing conflict, advocating for issues such as resident evacuation, education, security, and reconstruction in the border region. His engagement with Eisenkot's party comes at a critical juncture for Eisenkot, who is in the final stages of assembling his party's slate.

The strategic importance of these alliances is heightened as the deadline for list submissions approaches, with parties assessing how such collaborations might impact their electoral prospects and seat allocation. Eisenkot, a former IDF Chief of Staff, was part of the war cabinet following the October 7th attacks until his departure from the government with the National Unity party in June 2024. He recently established the Yisrael party to pursue leadership and form the next government, positioning himself as a potential prime minister.
