Epic Israel Cycling Race Returns to Western Galilee After 3-Year Hiatus

The Winner Epic Israel 2026 mountain bike race is set to return to the Western Galilee region in October, marking its comeback after a three-year absence due to the ongoing conflict.

The multi-day event, held in memory of Giora Tzur, will take place in the Mateh Asher Regional Council, traversing forests and single-track trails. Many of these routes have been recently reopened following extensive rehabilitation and upgrade work by the Jewish National Fund (JNF).

The race's return signifies more than just a change in course; it represents a broader effort to restore sporting, community, and tourism activities to an area significantly impacted by the war. Hundreds of cyclists will ride on trails that were closed for approximately three years, contributing to the region's recovery.

This year's event will feature approximately 300 kilometers of riding and 3,000 meters of cumulative elevation gain over four days. In addition to the full tour, there will be one-day races, a junior category, and a relay. Notably, wounded IDF soldiers from the "Brothers for Life" organization will participate, connecting the event to themes of resilience and rehabilitation.

Organizers and local officials, including Gal Tzur, founder of Winner Epic Israel, and Eyal Ostrovsky, Chairman of the JNF, expressed enthusiasm for the race's return, emphasizing its role in revitalizing the North, supporting local businesses, and showcasing the region's natural beauty.
