New Hasidic Duet 'Stand Up for Selichot' Released Ahead of High Holidays

Hasidic singers Sharly Klatzkin and Menachem Bernstein have released a new duet titled 'שטייטס אויף צו סליחות' (Stand Up for Selichot), timed for the upcoming month of Elul and the Jewish High Holidays. The song features lyrics and a melody by Moti Kreiger, with arrangement and production by Moishe Chana. The track aims to evoke a deep musical experience, blending traditional Hasidic memory with a message of awakening and hope.

The song's narrative draws inspiration from the familiar image of a beadle who would go door-to-door on cold nights to rouse people for Selichot prayers. Kreiger's lyrics use this metaphor to represent the personal search for a deeper connection with God, while also expressing a collective yearning for the coming of the Messiah. The singers' vocal blend is described as creating a special harmony that conveys the spiritual message effectively.

Moishe Chana, who also handled the mix, created a rich sonic landscape for the song. Additional musical elements include violins performed by Yoad Nir. The recording took place at Menachem Bernstein and Moishe Chana's studios, ensuring high production quality. The accompanying music video was filmed and edited by S.K., with cover art designed by Oligraf.

This release is part of a recent wave of new musical works appearing before the High Holidays. Unlike other artists who have reinterpreted classic Hasidic songs, Klatzkin and Bernstein offer a new original melody that provides a contemporary take on the tradition of spiritual awakening for the Selichot period.
