Suspect in "Prinoch" Poisoning Case Admits to Acts, Claims Retaliation

Yan Shamla, the suspect accused of introducing toxic substances into Prinoch brand baby food at various Jerusalem locations, confessed to his involvement in the affair, according to a report by Mako. During questioning, Shamla stated, "They pursued me for a long time. They also tried to poison me, so I poisoned them back." When asked if he regretted his actions, he responded, "They hurt me, I did what I thought was right." Investigators are currently examining whether he acted alone.

The investigation began following several unusual incidents where infants were hospitalized after tests revealed the presence of potent anesthetic and sedative substances in their blood. Law enforcement and health authorities subsequently worked to identify the source of the poisoning.

Shamla's arrest has been extended for a second time to allow investigators to determine his motives and whether he acted independently. According to the investigator during the hearing, suspicion against Shamla has significantly strengthened since the previous session. The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's office, overseeing the case, has provided investigators with a document outlining requirements for further investigative actions.
