A viral video from the 2026 World Cup shows a security guard in Los Angeles confiscating an Israeli flag from a fan, while a nearby Palestinian flag is left untouched. The clip has spread widely across social media and has drawn millions of views, likes, and comments, many of them anti-Israel.
In the footage, the fan asks why his Israeli flag must be removed when the Palestinian flag directly behind him is allowed to stay. He tells the guard, “The only flags allowed are those of the teams playing,” which the guard says is based on FIFA rules permitting only flags of participating countries.
The fan then challenges the guard, saying, “You are asking to remove my flag, but not that flag,” and adds, “It looks a bit antisemitic. Once you remove the Palestinian flag, I will remove mine.” The guard does not approach the fans holding the Palestinian flag and continues trying to take away the Israeli one.
Later in the clip, the Israeli flag is indeed confiscated, while the Palestinian flag continues to wave. The fan then goes to other security personnel, who repeat that only flags of the teams in the match are allowed, but still do not remove the Palestinian flag.
