Shin Bet Exits 'Prinok' Poisoning Case, Iranian Involvement Ruled Out

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has officially concluded its involvement in the "Prinok" case, following the dismissal of suspicions that the suspect acted under the direction of Iranian elements. The investigation is now solely managed by the Israel Police, with the suspect's motive remaining unclear.

During his interrogation, the suspect confessed to the act but struggled to provide a coherent account, telling investigators, "People are chasing me and trying to poison me, so I poisoned them." Police believe the evidence against him is solid. In addition to charges related to the use of toxic substances and endangering lives, he is now also facing drug-related offenses.

Investigation findings indicate the suspect acted in two separate branches of the "Prinok" store chain on two different occasions. He is suspected of taking jars from store shelves, injecting them with a toxic substance, and returning them to their place. No other suspects have been arrested at this stage, but investigators are examining whether he received assistance from anyone.

Unless unforeseen developments occur, the police are expected to file a statement of intent to indict the suspect on Wednesday, paving the way for a formal indictment.
