During an overnight operation in Jerusalem’s Beit Safafa neighborhood, 74 illegal residents and two people suspected of harboring them were arrested. The raid was carried out by Border Police and Jerusalem police after intelligence indicated that illegal residents were staying and being housed in the area.
At one construction site, officers found 22 residents of the West Bank who were in Israel without permits. In a separate building that police suspect was being used as lodging, they arrested another 52 illegal residents.
Police also arrested a father and son from Beit Safafa on suspicion that they provided sleeping accommodations for the illegal residents. The arrests were made as part of a broader enforcement operation based on the intelligence information.
