Israeli Minister Warns of Leftist Government Due to Right-Wing Disunity

Minister Orit Strock, a member of the political-security cabinet, has expressed concern that a split within the right-wing camp could lead to the rise of a left-wing government supported by Arab parties. Speaking on Radio 'Galei Israel,' Strock urged unity within the right to prevent the loss of Knesset seats.

Strock stated that while polls show a solid majority of the public identifies with the right, there is a significant fear of electoral defeat. She attributed this potential loss to two main issues: complacency within the right-wing and the proliferation of small parties. The minister emphasized that separate runs by parties failing to pass the electoral threshold pose a real danger to continued right-wing rule, potentially leading to wasted votes.

According to Strock, early alliances and public responsibility from party leaders are crucial to averting a political upset. She advocated for all parties to run on a united list to prevent a left-wing government from forming with the support of the Islamic Movement. Strock concluded by warning that those who do not grasp the severity of such a scenario are out of touch with reality.
