Israel's High Court Demands Explanation for Settler Violence Impact on Palestinians

Israel's Supreme Court has issued an order nisi, compelling the state to explain why it has not acted to allow Palestinians and their families to return to their homes in the village of Jalud, near Qusra. These residents were forced to leave their homes following violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers.

The court specifically questioned why blockades and obstacles preventing access to the Palestinians' homes have not been removed. The justices expressed grave concern, stating, "The picture emerging is very grim. There are plenty of questions; worthy answers, fewer."

Regarding settler violence in the West Bank, the court emphasized its detrimental effect on Israel's international image as a state governed by the rule of law. The court's order requires the state to provide justifications for its inaction in facilitating the return of displaced residents and ensuring their access to their properties.
