Gaza Food Prices Plummet 83% Since Last October, COGAT Reports
Food and other goods prices in the Gaza Strip have fallen by approximately 83% by the end of August compared to October 2025, according to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT). This marks a continued decline from July, when COGAT reported a 74% price decrease. The agency stated that the price drop now extends beyond food to encompass other commodities.
COGAT asserted that Gaza's markets are well-supplied with food, and the ongoing price reduction indicates substantial delivery volumes, despite taxes allegedly levied by Hamas on traders. The office also reiterated reports from the previous week of Hamas destroying food supplies.
According to COGAT, over 2.2 million tons of food have entered Gaza since the ceasefire began. The agency claims this influx has enabled the opening of dozens of public kitchens and bakeries, broadened the variety of products available in markets, and contributed to the sustained decrease in prices.
