Shas Party Council Meets to Finalize Knesset List
The Shas party's Council of Torah Sages is convening in Jerusalem to approve the party's list of candidates for the upcoming Knesset elections. The meeting comes as Shas chairman Aryeh Deri has been holding discussions regarding the composition of the list, with the status of two current Knesset members being a key point of contention. Options being considered for these members include remaining on the list, being removed, or being placed in different positions.
The Council of Torah Sages, Shas's supreme religious authority, will make the final decision on the list's makeup. The meeting is being led by Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel and Shas's spiritual leader. Other prominent rabbis attending include Rabbi Moshe Maya, Rabbi Reuven Elbaz, Rabbi Avraham Salaim, Rabbi Shmuel Betzalel, Rabbi Shlomo Machfoud, and Rabbi Yehuda Cohen.
