Health and Education Ministries Launch School Nurse Pilot Program
Israel's Ministries of Health and Education are launching a pilot program to integrate institutional nurses into eight elementary schools across various sectors for the upcoming academic year (2026-2027). The nurse will be employed full-time as a permanent member of the school staff, providing professional medical care to all students, including those requiring special supervision due to their health conditions.
As part of their role, the nurses will identify health needs, assist in managing chronic illnesses, administer vaccinations and screenings, provide first aid, and promote overall health within the school community. This initiative was selected from approximately 40 local authorities that expressed interest in participating.
The pilot program is set to run for one academic year and will be accompanied by an academic research study to evaluate its effectiveness.
