Israel Buys Reserve Filters for Desalination Plants Amid Algae Crisis

In response to an algae crisis impacting desalination facilities, the Water Authority announced it is purchasing a "dedicated stock" of membranes, or filters, for the plants. The move aims to ensure the continued, regular supply of water to all residents and the agricultural sector.

The Water Authority stated that current preparations involve a combination of water flow from active desalination plants, the Sea of Galilee, and hundreds of boreholes nationwide. Additionally, national reservoirs were replenished over the weekend by the Mekorot company.

The purchase of the reserve membranes is intended to guarantee the ongoing stable provision of the water system. The public is urged by the Water Authority to use water more efficiently.
