Kiriat Gat Senior Leadership Group Celebrates New Year

The senior citizen leadership group in Kiriat Gat marked the new year with a festive toast focused on community action, partnership, and social responsibility. The event was attended by Mayor Kfir Suissa, CEO of the community center network Amir Ben Shimon, the incoming director of social services Galia Benayoun, and representatives from the senior citizens unit, the community work unit, group coordinator Carmel Arieli, and other municipal partners.

The project is funded and supported by the Ministry for Social Equality and the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security. The leadership group, composed of active senior residents, operates through three dedicated committees: accessibility, focusing on removing physical and service barriers in the city; culture and leisure, aiming to expand activities and events; and the "Heart to Heart" team, which addresses loneliness and strengthens community resilience.

During the gathering, recent key initiatives were presented. These included comprehensive needs surveys conducted in the field, plans to expand workshops, lectures, and sports and knowledge classes to be launched after the holidays, and the introduction of a direct communication channel, "60+ Kiriat Gat, Everything Happening in the City," via a dedicated municipal WhatsApp group.
