Former Israel Hayom Editor Launches New Hebrew News Site JNS Israel
A new Hebrew-language news website, JNS Israel, launched on Sunday, with veteran political correspondent Ariel Kahana serving as its editor-in-chief. Kahana departed Israel Hayom after nine years to establish the new outlet.
JNS, a news agency focused on the Jewish world and Israel with a strong U.S. base, was founded in 2011. It currently supplies news digests, articles, opinions, and analyses to approximately 100 print and digital publications globally. This marks the first time JNS has launched a Hebrew edition, building on its established presence in Israel.
Reports suggest that the Adelson Family Foundation, managed by Miriam Adelson, publisher of Israel Hayom, has been a significant donor to JNS for many years. Kahana, who maintains a Telegram channel with around 11,000 subscribers, will continue to cover political affairs personally alongside his new role.
The JNS Israel team has already recruited reporters and plans to expand by 2027. The site aims to provide in-depth reporting and context that complements the rapid, often fragmented, news updates found elsewhere. Kahana stated that the site's mission is to present a "broad and complete picture" that is sometimes missed in daily news cycles, focusing on what is important.
Kahana elaborated that JNS Israel will offer "serious and in-depth journalism" that supports the interests of the Jewish people, leveraging JNS's U.S. network. He described it as the first Israeli media outlet with distinct U.S. and Israeli branches operating in both English and Hebrew. In an era of overwhelming information, JNS Israel intends to slow down the pace, offer a higher perspective, and clarify the pixels of reality to provide a clear description of events. The outlet will highlight important developments and their long-term implications, operating with fairness, responsibility, and professionalism. Kahana emphasized that journalism is a vital tool for the national efforts of Israel and the Jewish people, particularly in light of the critical role of media in national life since the events of October 7th.
