Israeli Tech Firms Donate Over $3 Million to Social Causes

Israeli technology companies donated approximately 12 million shekels (about $3.2 million) to community causes during the Hebrew year 5786 (2025-2026) through the "Tmura" fund. These contributions were distributed to over 50 non-profit and social organizations, supporting individuals ranging from 20 to 80 years old. The Tmura fund operates a unique model where early-stage startups contribute options instead of cash. Upon an exit event, such as an acquisition or IPO, these options are converted into liquid assets and then transferred to educational and social initiatives.

Several companies achieved significant exits this past year, contributing a portion of their profits. Notably, Astrix Security was acquired by Cisco for approximately $400 million, and Teramount was purchased by Molex for about $430 million. Additionally, 43 new companies joined the Tmura fund this year.

Baruch Lipner, CEO of the Tmura fund, commented on the achievements, stating, "5786 was an exceptional year for Tmura, especially given the immense challenges the Israeli society faced. Despite the geopolitical and economic complexities, we see the strength and commitment of Israel's tech ecosystem to Israeli society as a whole. It is encouraging to see how the industry's success is measured not only by acquisition value but also by its contribution to the society in which it grows."

Since its establishment in 2002 by Yadin Kaufman, the Tmura fund has donated over 135 million shekels (about $36 million) to social activities in Israel. The fund hopes this trend of joining and contributing will continue and expand in the coming years.
