Supreme Court Rejects Bogi Ya'alon's Petition Against State Prosecutor

Israel's Supreme Court on Sunday summarily dismissed a petition filed by former IDF Chief of Staff and Defense Minister Moshe "Bogi" Ya'alon. Ya'alon had urged the court to compel the Attorney General and State Prosecutor to expedite a decision regarding suspicions that Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ordered the removal of a prosecutor from the Netanyahu trial. Ya'alon alleged that Sara Netanyahu harassed witnesses in the trial through the late Hani Bluvais, who managed Benjamin Netanyahu's office.

Ya'alon's petition highlighted that the case was transferred from the police in April, yet no decision had been reached. Justice Khaled Kabub, delivering the court's decision, strongly criticized the petition, stating that the court generally does not intervene in the pace of work for decisions on indictments once investigation materials are transferred, provided the process is conducted within a reasonable timeframe.

Kabub noted the state's argument that the case is "complex and branching, including many factual and legal aspects that required diverse evidence gathering, as well as careful deliberation and examination of the findings," necessitating additional time. He further emphasized that Ya'alon's petition lacked the factual or legal basis to justify an exceptional intervention, especially since Ya'alon did not approach the respondents after their response on June 22, 2026, before filing the petition. Given that no response was requested, the court ruled without awarding costs to the state.
