Financial Commentator Saul Amsterdamski Reveals Million-Dollar Stock Portfolio
Israeli financial commentator Saul Amsterdamski has disclosed that his investment portfolio has reached a seven-figure sum, largely due to accumulated profits rather than initial deposits. In a conversation with Avi Shoshan, Amsterdamski revealed that the majority of the funds in his portfolio are earnings from his stock market investments. He explained that this significant accumulation is the result of a consistent, two-decade-long investment strategy.
Amsterdamski clarified that he invests all his available free cash automatically each month, a practice he has maintained for 20 years. Despite the portfolio's size, he stated that he does not engage in complex stock picking, instead opting for simple index fund investments and then 'forgetting' about them. He emphasized that he does not touch this money, viewing it as savings for his retirement and intending to leave it as an inheritance for his children.
When questioned about whether he considers himself wealthy, Amsterdamski responded with humor, initially deflecting the label. However, he acknowledged that a seven-figure portfolio technically qualifies as being a millionaire. He contrasted his situation with Shoshan's, who noted that his own assets, like a home with a mortgage, are not as liquid. Amsterdamski further downplayed the idea of extravagant spending, humorously mentioning arriving by bicycle to the interview, while Shoshan playfully suggested he would be enjoying his wealth more if he were Moroccan like himself.
